Most outbreaks that occur abroad never make the news. That’s because CDC and our partners are there to detect, investigate and stop them before they spread.
In the past two years, CDC-supported field epidemiologists and other global health experts helped stop more than 250 outbreaks in 40+ countries—including dengue, Marburg, hemorrhagic fevers and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
In observance of #WorldFieldEpidemiologyDay earlier this week, we’re recognizing CDC-trained disease detectives around the world who help stop outbreaks at the source—and protect Americans from health threats before they reach our shores. #CrisisToControl
