Last month, congressional staff visited NIH’s National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) for a firsthand look at engineering breakthroughs that have the potential to improve human health.

🔬 NIH’s National Medical Phantom Library, housed within NIBIB’s Center for Biomedical Engineering Technology Acceleration (BETA Center), is building a growing collection of medical phantoms—realistic models of organs and body parts that give physicians a safe way to practice and refine complex procedures.

By bringing engineering and medicine together, NIH-supported technologies like these could help researchers and physicians develop more personalized approaches to patient care.
