In my new book on Texas epidemics with @mitpress I explain how the second Asiatic cholera pandemic put everything on ice between the 1832 Anahuac skirmish and the 1835 Battle of Gonzales. Cholera wiped out much of the Austin Colony as it moved up the Brazos River but then it came into Mexico City and shut down Lopez de Santa Anna. It devastated both sides but I think it gave advantage to the Texians

引用Rep. Michael Cloud@RepMichaelCloud
On this day, 191 years ago, a group of Texans stood their ground for a small bronze cannon that the Mexican government demanded back. This act of courage and independence was the start of the Texas Revolution. That same spirit still runs through the Lone Star State. “Come and Take It!”
