No amount of lab work prepares a researcher for the moment their science is tested on a real person for the first time. For Dr. Naji Gehchan and the team at @kyverna_us, one of those moments came in 2024, when Marci Pedrazzi McCue became the first person in a U.S. clinical trial to receive an investigational CAR T-cell therapy for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) an approach that resets a patient's own immune cells to target disease.

As Dr. Gehchan notes, innovation comes with a responsibility to ensure promising treatments reach the patients who need them most. Marci's courage, combined with the fearless determination of researchers and her medical team, is helping advance knowledge that could shape the future for millions living with MS.

That determination – carried by patients and scientists alike – is the #FightofOurLives. Breakthroughs happen when patients and scientists move forward together.
